1. Do not flash firmware that has been downloaded without checking the MD5 Sum for the file. If the file is corrupted you will likely brick your router. 2. Be aware that from early 2016, manufacturers (such as TP-Link and Ubiquity) who install proprietary firmware on their devices have moved to prevent the installation of third party firmware such as OpenWrt. Thus there is an increased risk of bricking the device when re-flashing. This does not affect devices from manufacturers (such as Dragino and GLiNet) who install OpenWrt based firmware by default. Please carefully consider your options when purchasing equipment and test carefully if you are planning to re-flash a device using a proprietary firmware.
